07/01/2006 - SmoothStripes 5.1 & Aqua Extreme 3.1

I had to fix some minor glitches in the previous releases and I went a little nuts and tried to hunt down all the old style metal buttons which resulted in a pretty big update with many many appskins. I’m afraid that I might more work to do after this tuesday, if they update the iLife package..

These are the changes:

SmoothStripes 5.1 & Aqua Extreme 3.1
• Added appskin with new the new style metal buttons for Font Book, Address Book, Calculator, iPhoto, iChat, iCal, QuickTime and VLC. These are included as optional installs for those of you who use the package installer.
• Bundled a desktop picture called “Aqua Refined” by Blue Rocket.
• Changed the corners of regular windows and the menubar caps to be less rounded to fix issues with shadows and for consistency.
• Changed the global metal buttons to use the style from iTunes 6.
• Changed slider tracks to be the same style as the volume slider in iTunes 6.
• Changed the size of the round button to better align with glyphs placed on it.
• Changed etched text to use less of a bevel, like in iTunes 6. Only affects the guikit versions.
• Fixed the dimmed title text in certain metal apps (only works in the guikit, the installer still has this problem and it is not fixable)
• Fixed issues with garbled resources in the iTunes skin.

Aqua Extreme for Mac OS X 10.4:
Aqua Extreme 3.1 [1,9 MB]
Aqua Extreme 3.1 [7 MB]

01/01/2006 - SmoothStripes 5 & Aqua Extreme 3

No, I’m not dead. Just haven’t been in the mood to do any theming or updates here. And no, I’m not quiting theming, I’m just taking it in my own pace.

I do intend to update my other themes to theme iTunes 6, I know they are not very usable in their current state. I can’t give you any time frame, but Milk and Aluminum Alloy are my top priorities.

Anyhow, since I use SmoothStripes on my computer at work I’ve made an update to the that theme. My intention when I first saw Tigers many different GUI parts was to try and bring it all together in a consistent theme. However, I haven’t really done that since I realize there are just too many applications and too many bits and pieces to change. But I have done something that I think might bring it together a little. The new SS and AE themes now includes the new metal style from iTunes and applies it system wide:

I’ve also made a new wait cursor that I’m happy with. It’s derived from the Aqua blob used in the 10.2 betas, but leaves the cursor intact which makes it easier to click around.

These are the changes:
SmoothStripes 5 & Aqua Extreme 3
• Compatible with iTunes 6.0.1
• New Metal style from iTunes applied system wide.
• Removed square variants to simplify maintenance.
• New wait cursor bundled with the guiKit versions.
• Minor changes.

Aqua Extreme 3 [6,6 MB]

19/09/2005 - Glory cellphone theme

Hello everyone. It’s getting further and further between news post here, sorry. I’m just very busy with work, and my job is essentially the same as making themes. Therefore I don’t want to spend my evenings doing that, or I’ll get a graphic overdose.. Start dreaming about pixels n stuff…

I do plan on updating themes to support iTunes 5, once ThemePark supports it and I’m able to find the time. I’m also tinkering on a SmoothStripes/Aqua Exteme update that will Aquafy iTunes.

For those of you who use one of the more recent Sony Ericsson phones, you are in luck. I myself got an SE k750 though my job, so I’ve made a theme for it. It’s called Glory and just like EYLO, it’s based on the HALO interface. Only this time it’s based on HALO 2.

02/08/2005 - Maybe it’s time to update..

..SmoothStripes and Aqua Extreme.
But first I was just wondering if anyone would be upset if I replaced the flat menubar with the glossy one? I have to admit is has grown on me and it would be easiest to just replace the flat one instead of trying to make more variations.

Also, I’m sorry I can’t devote more time to the themes, I’ve just been so busy with my job. Now I’m actually on a 2 week semester, so I thought I might at least update these two themes.

04/07/2005 - Problems with “guiKit://” links

I keep getting quite a few emails about people having problems downloading my themes because of the “guiKit://” address. If you have installed ShapeShifter, this link should open up the ShapeShifter preferences panel and download the theme. If it doesn’t work, try reinstalling ShapeShifter.

If you for some other reason want to download theme outside of ShapeShifter, copy the address of the download URL into your address field, for example:

guiKit://www.maxthemes.com/themes/downloads/tiger/Aluminum%20Alloy%201.7.guiKit

and replace the “guiKit://” with “http://”, like so:

http://www.maxthemes.com/themes/downloads/tiger/Aluminum%20Alloy%201.7.guiKit

While having the address field selected, hold down the Option (alt) key and hit return to force download the theme.

04/07/2005 - New user modded forum

MacThemes has opened a new sub forum for user modded themes to fill the void that the closing of my forum left. The cool thing about the new forum is that it’s not just I who have given permission to let my themes be modded, but a whole bunch of themers. That means you are free to mix my themes with many other. I hope all of you who previously posted at my forum at FunMac will register at MacThemes and continue posting! I’m fairly active there as well, so if you have any questions regarding my themes it’s likely I will respond.
