01/05/2005 - Tiger Status

Hey Everybody
I’m sure you are all wondering when the themes will be ready for Tiger. I got Tiger loaded on my comp and I just today got the tools I needed to get to work on updating them. I feel like I have to little time on my hands though, with my full time job and all. So it’s gonna take me a while to get them ready.
The good news is that most of the themes will work very well even without me updating them. The biggest changes is the Spotlight menu and all the results windows. Then there is a lot of changes in applications, Mail especially. I’ve started updating Aluminum Alloy because it requires the least effort to get ready. Then I’m not quite sure which theme to proceed with. Milk or SmoothStripes/Aqua Extreme. I made a poll so that you can vore on which theme you crave the most.
Also, feel free to comment on how you would like me to distribute SmoothStripes/Aqua Extreme. Should I make it a guiKit so I can fix as many Aqua inconsistencies as possible, or would you prefer a package installer so that you don’t need ShapeShifter? Either way it’s gonna take me a while.. But expect a new Aluminum Alloy as soon as ShapeShifter is ready for Tiger.

I’d like to see an Aqua Extreme version that installs by itself without the need of SS, and include the new Unified title/toolbar look (Plastic) of course.

Hello Max, I’ve used your SmoothStripes theme since day one.

You are by far the best themer for OS X out there!

I would love to see SS for Tiger as an installer. I always refused to use ShapeShifter, simply because I don’t like APE and prefer to have my system files replaced.

Please, please, please!

Can you please(please) update “Aqua Extreme Tiger”, So it has the new menubar? Beacuse the endcaps aren’t used anymore, and all the other themes with the new menubar aren’t good at all.

Pleeease?

I’d like to see SmoothStripes for Tiger as package installer.

I would very much prefer a native-ShapeShifter version of SmoothStripes.

My vote is for Brushed, it’s my favorite theme of yours. I understand you were planning on dropping it… what have you decided???

Thx.

SmoothStripes for Tiger and ShapeShifter, please… and do whatever you can to disable the incredibly stupid unified menu bar.

What moron at Apple thought THAT was a good idea?

My vote goes for Brushed too!!!!!!! Please update it Max!!

Hey, great to hear from you. I would really love to see SmoothStripes soon, and altough I bought a copy of ShapeShifter I would prefer an installer.

Hi Max, Milk for ever for me :)

Yes, Brushed.

Just popped in SS 2.1 and would love to see what you’d do with Spotlight and Mail.

You do great work, thanks so much.

I love brushed as well, though a regular Aqua Extreme would be awesome too.

Personally, I love SS. Saves me having to deal with a reinstall if something happens during the installer leaving my OS’s original resources FUBAR. Besides, APE’s never caused any problems for me and offers a lot of expansion options.

Would love a smooth stripes or a milk w/o shapeshifter (trying things out w/o ape)…i wish that there could a smooth stripes variation that made brushed metal replaced totally with that unfied toolbar look, *so* pretty.

My vote is for BBX Mercury X. I like the Aquaish themes, but this is the best! :)

I’m glad to hear that you’re working on Aluminum Alloy! That’s my favorite theme EVER and the default theme on all three of my Macs :)

SmoothStripes as an installer, please.

Posted by dzd on May 2nd, 2005 at 11:48 pm

Please, Aqua Extreme, whatever packaging!

Posted by Devin Lane on May 3rd, 2005 at 1:27 am

I’d like a package installer first. Then a shapeshifter guikit. They each fix different aspect of the gui. And I *really* miss having a updated login screen and boot up.

Please, please, please, update Aqua Extreme Tiger, I really love the look of it and I really want to have that theme on my computer. Please. The preview of Tiger got me so amped because the new bar looked so sweet and sleek, but then they went back to the older look. Please man, update it for us

Posted by Mike on May 3rd, 2005 at 3:25 am

I gotta say, i also would love to have the “blue menubar endcap” theme as well. i was so happy that apple had decided to do something different… oh well..

I’d love to see Smooth Stripes get ported over asap! Keep up the amazing work!

Custom Installer without SS for TIGER would rock! Awesome, thanks for your hard work Max.

Milk! as guikit!

Posted by Michael Smith on May 3rd, 2005 at 1:28 pm

Now that we have ShapeShifter for Tiger I think you should make a guikit for us. I much prefer that.

I’m still waiting for Aluminum Alloy ;)

^^^^^ what Allan said :D

Installer for SmoothStripes, pleeeeease :-)

Posted by Gustav on May 3rd, 2005 at 6:41 pm

I would prefer a guiKit for SS, but both a guikit and an installer would be great.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make such great themes for Mac. I cant run OS X without smoothstripes anymore (its just a personal problem).

Posted by Mxrider on May 4th, 2005 at 12:08 am

I’d like to request Smoothstripes as an installer package, if I may.

Keep up the great work Max :-)

No package installers. No no no no no! Shapeshifter, please.

Posted by kwyjibo on May 4th, 2005 at 3:56 pm

Hey Guys
I haven’t had any more time to work on the themes. I’ll see if I can finish up Aluminum Alloy this week.
I don’t know how I’ll do with SmoothStripes/Aqua Extreme yet.

Posted by Max Rudberg on May 4th, 2005 at 4:49 pm

Yay good news! I can’t wait until the new Aluminum Alloy is completed :)

Iím really looking forward to SmoothStripes. Installer preferred ;-)

Milk & Smooth Stripes as installers…

Posted by Brian on May 5th, 2005 at 12:35 am

I’d love to see you make Auqa Extreme Panther for Tiger. Bring all those wonderful and subtle fixes you made to Panther in place of the god-awful changes Apple made in Panther, especially that ugly looking toolbar in Spotlight searches/System Preferences and a major fix for the disaster Apple made of Mail.app

Hello, I really do enjoy SS ! In fact, i’d enjoy a theme where every window just looks the SAME : if you could use plastic to replace metal, and fix some aqua bugs.. it’d be perfect.. moreover, i’ve always been thinking about new progress bars, why not rounded ?

Posted by Clems on May 5th, 2005 at 3:31 pm

SmoothStripes, Installateur, s’il vous plait…

Posted by luc on May 5th, 2005 at 5:44 pm

Aluminum Alloy’s “Cryogenic” variant is my favorite theme. It’s working pretty well under Tiger as-is, and I can’t wait to see the Tiger-specific changes you make to it!

Milk as an intaller please !!
I’m worry about paying to use your FREE theme !!

I’d like to see SmoothStripes as a self-extracting package.

Posted by Josh on May 9th, 2005 at 3:56 am

please, everyone needs milk; installer or shapeshifter. apple’s brushed metal is too much an eyesore.

Posted by scottrod on May 10th, 2005 at 1:38 am

yes yes all very nice but where can i get smoothstripes for 10.1? after all wasnt its original purpose to remove stripes in 10.1?
